Going to an Interview can be fearful. You can also go to an Interview with excitement and positivity and thinking that you will be offered the job.
There are Numerous Aspects to doing a Great Interview whether it is Face/Face or on Line.
Face/face Interview
There are four (4) Aspects to giving a Great First Impression.
They are crucial as an interviewer will form an opinion of you within seven (7) seconds, hence the importance of building a rapport with the interviewer.
Your Body Language
Is KEY as the interviewer will interpret your frame of mind, your confidence and your ability to perform the role. Our Body Language is a significant indicator.
Vocal Variaty
Is ESSENTIAL as it will show how enthusiastic and how passionate you are and would be in the role.
Eye Contact
Most people find Proper Eye Contact challenging particularly, if they have not been aware of what it is.
Most people do NOT realise the Power of Eye Contact for connectivity with the other person.
Connectivity builds closeness to the other person which leads to a better relationship.
There are other aspects to doing a Great Interview, some of which are :
- Voice Clarity
- Inflection
- Speaking Rate
- Pronunciation
- Avoidance Of Crutch Words “garbage”
- Ask The Interviewer(S) Questions

On Line Interview :
When given the opportunity and if practical, opt for a FACE/FACE Interview. WHY ? The interviewer will get a better idea of you and your capabilities.
ON LINE Interviews are ideal for certain jobs. When doing an On Line Interview make sure of the following : –
- Your Laptop/I Pad well tested beforehand and have good internet connection. You do not want the interviewer waiting for you to connect with them. Remember, First Impressions Last
- Minimise Distractions by way of your Body Language and background intrusions.
- You Voice Must Be Clear = Voice Clarity
- Pronunciation – a lot of interviewees do not pronounce words clearly and fully Avoid clipping the ends of words and sentences
- Inflection – the use of Inflection will create interest in what you are saying for the interviewer.
- Avoid using – Crutch Words “Garbage” It will become irritating for the listener
- Beware of your – Speaking Rate
- Ask the Interviewer questions.
